Usually flies just get in our way and seem to serve no purpose on this earth, yet today I began to feel a little different about these creatures. After driving home from Orange County and noticing a distracting fly in my car, I began to think…I had not opened my windows the whole ride so the fly must have entered my car in the park I had left from in Orange County. Being its distractive self, the fly kept buzzing around the car aimlessly, searching helplessly for a way out. Or was it just fulfilling its desire of flight. Who are we, mere creatures with our own habitual instincts, to judge these little animals for doing what they are born to do? Although it was only an hour and a half car ride, the distance from Orange County to La County seemed like a long way for the fly to travel without even having to work. Had it left a family behind? Had it even cared where it was going? Perhaps, it was just instinct to buzz around while trapped in a place that it did not know about. An hour and a half is only a blink in the life of a human, yet proves to be nearly seven percent of a fly's life. It is a little known fact that fly's only exist in this realm for twenty-four hours, and that an hour and a half of their life (seven percent), equals nearly five years in the life of the average person. As I did not know what would become of the little creature's life, I felt its innocence beginning to have a profound effect on me. I ultimately had the power to let him out in the middle of the freeway or to drive with him in my car until I reached my house. It was as if I felt some distant connection with this fly.

Time to listen to the air,
seems were headed nowhere,
and your love is strong today,
so let go of your pain,
there's no roadblock in your way,
our hearts mesh into one,
and our life has just begun...
